One of the most influential artists of our time, Anish Kapoor returns to the Hayward Gallery, where he staged his first major UK survey almost 30 years ago.
This major exhibition fills the entire gallery with immersive artworks that invite visitors of all ages to explore, look closer and experience the space in new and unexpected ways. Many of the works interact with the building itself, creating surprising visual effects across walls, floors and ceilings.
The show brings together some of Kapoor’s most well-known series, including highly polished mirror-like sculptures that distort reflections in playful and intriguing ways, and deep black forms made using Vantablack, the darkest known material that appear to absorb light and challenge what you think you’re seeing.
Visitors will also discover bold recent works, including paintings and sculptures that explore big ideas about life and change, alongside new large-scale installations that transform the gallery space with striking colour and form.
Part of the Hayward Gallery’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the exhibition is curated by Ralph Rugoff, marking his final show as Director after 20 years in the role.
