Meet the Superhero Collective – uniting mumpreneurs and moving towards a more sustainable world

Words Holly Kirkwood

Sarah Fraikue is a mama on a mission. Having worked in fashion and media for a decade, like so many of us Sarah had a rethink when she fell pregnant.

After researching the web for high-quality sustainable kids products, and having stumbled upon many small labels on Instagram, she found it difficult and time-consuming trying to find the brands she felt she could connect with, which weren’t just mass market, high street businesses.

She felt perhaps there was a gap in the market if the amazing mums who were producing fantastic kids’ fashion pieces got together to market their products in the same place

The result was  Superhero Collective, a marketplace for mum’s businesses that specialises in sustainable kids clothing, toys and décor.

Sarah believes that fast fashion is creating an environmental crisis, often with bad labour conditions. The vision is to create a user-friendly marketplace that challenges sustainability in the kidswear segment. She strongly believes that mumpreneurs can work together to change the fashion industry while also forging ahead with their own business successes.

The marketplace also features a blog –  Mumpreneur Squad  – designed to be a global community focus offering inspiring interviews, useful tips on entrepreneurship and the latest trends on sustainable fashion for kids. The idea is always to enable and empower mums around the world to be successful.

So far the feedback has been overwhelming and the collective have already signed up sellers from the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, and Spain. However there are still so many mums out there they want to reach and markets they would like to expand into.

So the Superhero Collective have now launched a Kickstarter campaign  to raise funds and spread the word. Find out more over on the campaign page, or take a look at their fun totes and t-shirts. If you’re a mama making awesome pieces of clothing, toys or even interiors products, then do get in touch.

We have high hopes for the project, so watch this space to see what happens next!
