Most pregnant mums would put their feet up whenever they got the opportunity, especially if they were also running around after a three year-old most of the day. But not Katie Piper. The super stylish mum-to-be has been busy designing a stunning maternity wear collection that has just launched with We Want That Trend.Com
“The minute I found out I was pregnant I just knew I had to design my own range,” explains Katie who is expecting her second baby with husband Richard.
“Throughout my first pregnancy I struggled to find any maternity clothes that I liked and it really annoyed me. It’s so important to look good when you are expecting. If you are wearing clothes you like you feel so much better about all the changes your body is going through,” says the 33 year-old who is six months pregnant.
“I want to retain my own sense of style through these nine months so that even if I’m feeling tired or a bit rubbish, I can still look good.”
Katie’s range, ‘Mother’, consists of 26 pieces in a variety of block colourways, prints, and vibrant tones.
“These are multitasking items that mums can get so much wear out of,” she points out. “For example I love the dark navy jumpsuit that can be worn with a T-shirt during the day, a blazer for work or dressed up with heels and some great accessories if you are going out in the evening.”
The celebrity mum who already has a daughter called Belle, wanted her range to be affordable. “Our price-point is around £23 to £25. The most expensive item is £50. Very few women want to spend a fortune on maternity clothes because they wear it for such a short period of time. But that doesn’t mean they should have to compromise on style,” she says.
Katie is really enjoying her pregnancy and is super excited about her little bundle of joy arriving later this year.
“This pregnancy has gone so quickly. It’s very different the second time around, running around after a little one. There’s no time for afternoon naps!” she says.
“But I love every minute of being a mum and the incredible bond I have with my daughter. I can’t wait to do it all again.”
As well as launching her clothing range, Katie is also working on another book which is due out next year.
But for now she has her baby shower to look forward to. “I don’t know the sex of the baby yet,” she say. “If I do find out I might do the whole ‘gender reveal’ dress thing and wear either a pink or blue dress from my collection to my shower to break the news,” she laughs.
We are sure that whichever dress she picks, Katie and her bump will both look gorgeous.
