Mini Rodini is the kidswear brand leading the way for eco-friendly fashion
After leading what, in retrospect, looks like little short of a revolution in the design of kids’ clothing, Mini Rodini is now upping the ante and leading the charge for sustainable style.
The spring-summer swimwear range combines all the brand signatures loved by kidswear connoisseurs: graphic prints, illustrated animal motifs, bold use of colour and versatile, street-conscious styling.
Deep oceanic blues are enlivened by polka dot-style bubble patterns while beach donkey emblems adorn summer hats. Matching swim bloomers and rash vests feature darting swallows in soft pink and pale lime, and UPF 50+ protective sunsuits star on-trend leopard print.
The most exciting feature is, however, the least visible: each piece in the range is mostly made using recycled polyamide fibres from plastic waste – discarded carpets, production detritus and out-of-use fishnets. You wouldn’t guess it from the softness of the fabrics, but these garments have been around the block a bit, in other forms – the block being the planet’s seas and waterways.
What this means is that Mini Rodini swimwear isn’t just fit for the ocean: it’s helping to clean it up. A step on from using organic cotton (which Mini Rodini always have), we think it’s pretty visionary. Let’s hope it becomes another trend.
