Anna Tizard and Lydia Barron founded cool eco-conscious changing bag brand Tiba + Marl eleven years ago and the pair have recently opened their first bricks and mortar store on the apex of Needham Road and Artesian Road, just off Notting Hill’s Westbourne Grove. The beautiful space serves as a shop, showroom, and design studio, offering customers the chance to see the collection up-close and book a personal shopping appointment before baby arrives. Notting Hill has become a destination for luxe parenting brands, and Tiba + Marl have described the area as a ‘dream’ shopping location for kids – with their neighbours including Mini Rodini, MORI, Bonpoint, La Coqueta, and Caramel Baby (to name but a few). Anna took us on a tour of all of their favourite Notting Hill mama hangs. Scroll down to find out where the girls like to eat, play, and shop.
A favourite coffee spot (that has enough space for buggies)
Our shop!!! We have a table and chair for outside, a cracking Sage coffee machine – and our favourite part of working in the shop is sitting in the sunshine outside the shop. It’s on such a pretty street, and every week that passes it gets prettier with all the summer flowers are popping up around us. Apart from that, we love sitting in Nathalie, on Westbourne Grove – the most Instagrammable cafe around.
A great playground nearby
For a smaller playground, Colville Square is popular with my boys, it’s right by Portobello Road, and just around the corner from ‘Buns from home’ the most delicious pastries! For a larger playground with zip wires, huge slides we love to go to Holland park adventure playground. In the Summer, the kids love the water splash playground at Kensington Memorial park – it’s not for the faint hearted on a sunny day, but is full on fun for the kids.
Cool shops for little ones and grown ups
Well obviously Ganni!!!! In fact there are loads of super tempting shops nearby on Westbourne Grove, Sezane, Reformation + Toast are also lovely. We love Couverture and the Garb which is a 5 mins walk, and love a look in Marfa Stance – am hoping one day I will bag myself one of their bomber jackets! There is no end of lovely shops, both interior, food, fashion and outstanding charity shops too.
Cool cultural places to go with kids nearby
Notting Hill Carnival on kids day! The boys do find it a little loud, but it’s def an eye opener for them! Also the kids love all the international food available on Portobello Road and Golbourne Road, especially on market day. Electric Cinema is a lovely place to watch kids film (especially as you get a super comfy seat, and can have a glass of wine!!). The Tabernacle on Powis Square is a great community hub that always has the most amazing art and culture exhibitions – and as a bonus it has a brilliant cafe / restaurant.
Family friendly favourite restaurants?
We love going to the Secret Sandwich Shop on Talbot Road, for ginormous sandwiches, in a cool NY speak-easy kind of vibe! Another long-term fave for us is Taqueria – a fab Mexican in Westbourne Grove the kids LOVE the food, and we’ve been going for years, since pre-kids (we used the Mariachi band we saw playing there for our wedding, and bought them down to the New Forest for the evening do!) and have been taking the kids ever since.
