Classette founder Erin Fridja created her children’s hair accessory brand to add a bit of magic to busy school mornings. The former denim designer for Victoria Beckham, Paul Smith and Alexa Chung, and founder of East London boutique Bad Denim, is now a mum of three living in Kuala Lumpur, where she balances family life with running the cool kids brand. We asked Erin to chat to her daughter Georgette, 9, about their family life. Read their super cute and heartwarming conversation below as they discuss weekend pancakes, sleepovers, and the mischievous antics of little brother Val.
Meet Classette Founder Erin Fridja and Her Daughter Georgette, 9

Erin: What is the best thing about your family?
Georgette: (thinks a long time) We’re all really cooperative and we can deal with change.
E: Wow that really sounds like I coached you to say that. Maybe I’ve slightly drilled that in with all the moving and living in building sites.
G: And that you make pancakes with whipped cream on top.
E: I do. We go for it on the weekend breakfasts. I love weekend breakfast.
G: And that you ALWAYS say yes to sleepovers.
E: Hmmm there’s an agenda there.

E: What is Mummy best at?
G: Oh she’s good at finding foods.
E: Am I? Like some sort of roaming woodland forager? I suppose that’s a good way to put it I do spend the majority of the day sourcing various things.
E: What does Mummy do when you’re at school?
G: Uhhhh work. Looking at hair clips and spreadsheets.
E: I do. That’s pretty accurate.
E: What makes Mummy laugh?
G: You never laugh.
E: I never laugh? I’m not really known for being a very serious person…wait you’re laughing now. Wait was that a joke?
E: Who is the cheekiest in the family?
G: (without hesitation) Val.
E: Yeah that’s an easy one. He’s bonkers.
E: Who gives the best cuddles?
G: (without hesitation) Val.
E: He does actually. He’s super loving. Although Juni is definitely a close tie.

E: Who gets into the most trouble?
G: Val!
E: Again 100% Val. He’s a full time job.
E: Who is the loudest?
G: Val!
E: There are other people in the family you know…
E: Who chooses the best clothes in the family?
G: You, you. Val doesn’t choose good clothes.
E: No he chooses pirate clothes. He is a renegade.

E: What do you all do together when no grown-ups are watching?
G: Oh sorry I’m going to have to write this one you kinda can’t know…
(The answer is that we sometimes just GO FREE!!!! Like we do crazy stuff)
E: I have no desire to know everything that’s cool. But wait now I kinda want to know, like what?
G: (Laughs) sometimes we take your clothes. And then sometimes we dress up in your clothes.
E: I think that’s ok.
G: But wait that’s not all. (Looking mischievous)
E: Ok let’s leave it there.
E: What do you all do when you go out together?
G: Eat
E: I need to add a note here that this girl’s eating is epic. Like, I am going to take her to Coney Island speed eating competitions and make some real money.

E: How do you know Mummy loves you?
G: Cause she hugs me and kisses me.
E: I do.
E: If Mummy had a superpower, what would it be?
G: Invisibility
E: Would it? What would I do with that? I actively don’t want to be invisible!
G: (laughs)
G: Ok, teleportation! So that for birthday parties you could work-work-work on Classette stuff and then 5 seconds before the birthday party we could just go to the birthday party.
E: Now THAT is an incredibly useful superpower, I would love that superpower.
