fashion

Life in Colour

Think of Missoni and you think of ’70s bohemian-inspired glamour, iconic patterns of a striped, wavy and geometric bent and a fearless use of colour. The brand’s spirit is exemplified perfectly in the Mini Me collection for girls and in the zig-zag motif of our pick: the patchwork stripe dress. £750;

Grab Bag

It might look unassuming, but Joseph’s Sevres bag is the brand’s most coveted tote. Made from Italian leather and featuring a statement buckle, it offers a fresh take on the 2017 bucket bag. Pair up with androgynous separates and a linen sun dress. £476;

Mini-Me

Chic French kids’ store Bonton has launched a Maxi Me collection for mother and daughter, comprised of 20 classic looks (think dungarees, frill blouses, white bohemian embroidered dresses and tops). Check them out online or at the new Westbourne Grove shop.

Belt Up

The Nina waist-belt swimsuit is at the top of our holiday wishlist. A cool pale blue in a flattering cut and more than a nod to retro styling. That’s a solid purchase in our book – and a snip at £165.

Eponine London

WHO

Eponine London was founded by designer Jet Shenkman in 2014 as a bespoke womenswear brand inspired by the elegant silhouettes of the ’50s and ’60s. Raised in the Netherlands, Jet came to London at the age of 21 to work in the Dutch Embassy before being transferred to Tokyo where she later worked as a personal stylist. After meeting her British husband, Greg, the two lived together in Hong Kong and started a family, before finally settling back in London in 2012.

WHAT

Worn by the likes of Kate Middleton and Dame Helen Mirren, each season the brand’s bespoke collection is conceived in carefully chosen couture fabrics in a variety of textures. In recent years, the collections have included capsule styles crafted from textiles sourced from Asia, including Japanese kimonos and hand-crafted fabrics from antique shops in the north of Thailand, all in Eponine’s signature classically-inspired silhouettes.

The latest collection looks to Russia and the Ukraine for inspiration. The result is intricately formulated designs featuring bold colours and elaborate embroidery. For a laidback summer look, counter the brand’s girly charm with a straw tote and a pair of leather gladiator sandals.
