Jewellery designer Heidi Thompson of CARAT* London shares her inspirations...
Favourite piece of art
Light sculptures by Dan Flavin. I was completely mesmerised by his exhibition in Chicago when I was an art student. The space was just transformed.
The best thing about your job?
Creating every day, whether it’s assembling moodboards for upcoming collections or brainstorming ideas for the website. Working between Hong Kong and London I’m constantly inspired by my travels too.
Favourite designer
Yves Saint Laurent. I had copies of his sketches tacked on my walls since college and read his biography multiple times. Such a talent and visionary, his designs will always look chic no matter how many decades go by.
Your work’s biggest inspiration
London. It’s old-world meets modern. There’s always something waiting to be discovered in this magical city and the London energy is unlike any other place. As Samuel Johnson said: “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.”
What’s on your Xmas wishlist?
The best thing about the holidays is being able to sleep in! The Eberjey PJs are super-soft and so nice to lounge around in.
