Summer has finally arrived and so has the school holidays! If you’re spending the summer in the city, one of our favourite days out for kids has got to be hanging out at one of the city’s many amazing splash pads. Most of these are free of charge to visit, although some lidos charge a small entry fee. Splash pads and fountains are great for all ages – from toddlers to older children. Pack up a picnic, and don’t forget a swimsuit, jelly sandals, sunscreen, and a hat! Scroll down for London’s best splash pads for kids…

East London
Victoria Park | Hackney
Victoria Park, one of London’s largest and best loved parks, features an undulating splash pad right by the skatepark, playground and Hub cafe. With a variety of water jets and play features, it will keep little ones entertained for hours. The park also offers plenty of other activities, including boating and cycling.
Thames Barrier Park | Silvertown
Thames Barrier Park is not only known for its beautiful landscape and views of the Thames Barrier but also for its kid-friendly splash pad. This spot is quieter than some of the more central parks, offering a more relaxed atmosphere for little ones to play.
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park | Stratford
One of the newer additions to London’s splash pad scene, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park offers a brilliant water play area. This spot features a range of interactive water jets and fountains right in front of Westfield Shopping Centre. With the park’s vast open spaces, it’s a great location for a day out.
South London
Brockwell Park | Herne Hill
Brockwell Park’s splash pad is a popular South London spot. With a mix of water sprays, jets, and tipping buckets, it provides endless entertainment for little ones. The park also has a lido and plenty of green spaces, ideal for a family picnic.
Beckenham Place Park | Bromley
Beckenham Place Park’s splash pad is a great spot for kids to cool off and have fun, with plenty of seating for parents to supervise and enjoy the sun.
Central London
The Southbank Centre | Jeppe Hein’s Appearing Rooms
Located at The Southbank Centre, Jeppe Hein’s ‘Appearing Rooms’ is a unique interactive water installation that creates ‘rooms’ formed by walls of water that rise and fall. An engaging and fun experience, that’s popular with both kids and adults alike.
Coram’s Fields | Bloomsbury
In the heart of Central London, Coram’s Fields offers a unique splash pad that’s a favourite among city-dwelling families. The park is specifically designed for children, with entry restricted to those accompanied by kids, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
Granary Square | King’s Cross
The trendy Granary Square area by Coal Drops Yard has a huge fountain area. The water features are a hit with kids of all ages and it’s a great spot for parents to enjoy the nearby restaurants and cafes.
The Serpentine Lido | Hyde Park
While not a traditional splash pad, the Serpentine Lido in Hyde Park offers a fantastic place for children to cool off on a hot day. The lido includes a safe paddling pool area for kids and a larger swimming area for adults. It’s a serene spot surrounded by the lush greenery of Hyde Park.

The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court at Somerset House features a beautiful array of water jets that shoot up from the ground, creating a playful environment. It’s a perfect spot for children to run around and cool off, right in the heart of the city.
West London
Kensington Memorial Park | Ladbroke Grove
A hidden gem in West London, Kensington Memorial Park’s splash pad is a popular space for little ones. With interactive water features and nearby playgrounds, it makes the perfect destination for a sunny day out.
Paddington Recreation Ground | Maida Vale
This lesser-known spot includes a fantastic splash pad area with a variety of water features to keep kids entertained. The surrounding park is also well-equipped with sports facilities and open spaces.
North London
Clissold Park | Stoke Newington
Located in the heart of Stoke Newington, Clissold Park’s splash pad is a favourite among locals. With interactive water jets and fountains, kids can enjoy hours of fun while parents relax nearby. The park itself is lovely for a picnic, or a family walk.
Tally Ho Corner | North Finchley
This small but buzzing splash pad offers a range of water features perfect for younger children. The area around Tally Ho Corner also has plenty of cafes and shops, so you can easily make a day of your visit.
