What to do with kids in London this February half term

February half term has bugun! Here are twelve fun things to do with your little ones in London this week…

IMAGINE CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

Imagine Children’s Festival returns to the Southbank Centre from the 9th-20th. Some of the most popular events are already sold out, but there’s still lots to see and do including YolanDa’s Band Jam, Shape the World with OKIDO, Palaver Party and Big Laughs for Little Bellies.

TATE MODERN X UNIQLO

Tate Modern and Uniqlo will host two Tate Play workshops this month. From the 12th-20th, little ones will be able to get creative with recycled materials in Holiday Make Studio, then from the 26th they can make a collage in Make Studio: Celebrate.

THE POSTAL MUSEUM

The February half term programme at the Postal Museum will be themed around the magic of storytelling, with a range of interactive, self-guided and facilitated activities for families.

TWO TEMPLE PLACE

Two Temple Place has a series of family workshops this half term, including Block Printing on the 14th, Decorating Cardboard Pots on the 16th, Fun Phrases on the 17th and Pots as People on the 18th.

THE LONDON WETLANDS CENTRE

The London Wetlands Centre is hosting mud workshops this half term. There is also a 90-minute adventure workshop where little ones will learn to tie knots, light a fire safely, and build a secret den. Booking is essential for the adventure workshop.

HORNIMAN MUSEUM & GARDENS

The Horniman Museum’s Cats and Dogs exhibition explores the role that cats and dogs play in our world, and invites little visitors to go on an immersive sensory journey. The museum is also be hosting a Sweet Making Workshop from the 14th-18th.

ARTSDEPOT

artsdepot is running a SEND Family Workshop with the Institute of Imagination on the 17th. The inclusive 90 minute workshop will support families as they explore lightboxes and get creative with a shadow theatre. This activity is taken from the iOi: Imagination Box, which you’ll receive at the end of the session.

THE LITTLE ANGEL THEATRE

The Little Angel has a production of Handa’s Surprise for 2-5s, a Story Superstars Fun Day puppet-making workshop for 5-11s from the 17th-18th, and a production of The Singing Mermaid for 3-8s from the 25th.

ZSL LONDON ZOO

Vets in Action will be on at ZSL London Zoo from the 12th-20th. After arriving at the zoo vet centre, junior vets will be provided with hairnets and masks before helping experts examine, diagnose and carry out treatments on soft toys, experiencing first-hand the huge variety of work carried out by the Zoo’s vets, vet nurses and zookeepers – from microchipping meerkats to caring for a wounded lion.

V&A MUSEUM

Head to the V&A for the Beatrix Potter: Drawn to Nature exhibition. The museum will also have family workshops inspired by the show – Digital Kids: Grow Your Own Digital Garden from the 18th-20th and Drop-In Design: Become a Bio-Designer from the 17th-20th.

BARBICAN

Barbican is hosting an LSO family concert on the 17th: Musical Storytelling for Under-5s: Jemma’s Journey. The concert will follow a typical family day, including a trip to the zoo.

DRAG QUEEN STORY TIME

Drag Queen Story Time is on at West Norwood Library or Tate Streatham Library on the 21st, Durning Library on the 22nd and South Lambeth Library on the 23rd. There will also be a special session with Apple Derrieres and Adam All at Caledonian Park on the 21st.
