Andorra, an Exciting Family Adventure

As Andorra's excellent ski resorts are transformed into activity parks for all the family to enjoy, it's time to get ready for your Andorran adventure

Sun means fun for children in Andorra. There are myriad ways to have a good time as a family, whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, culture or a mix of all three. We’ve compiled a list of activities and ideas that will keep everyone entertained.

An eco-park for everyone

When travelling to Andorra with your children, they are bound to have a fantastic time at Naturlandia. Here you’ll find exciting, adrenaline-filled attractions such as Airtrekk, a spectacular balance circuit set 40-feet off the ground. Tobotronc is just as thrilling; an alpine slide that goes on for three miles and is the largest in the world. There are opportunities to ride on buggies, ponies, electric vehicles, quads and more. Summer is a great time to get acquainted with the local wildlife that inhabits the park. Never fear though, you’ll be watching them all from a safe distance on specially made viewing platforms.

Summer on the slopes

Just because the snow has disappeared, it doesn’t mean the Ski Resorts become redundant. In the warmer months, the resorts of Grandvalira and Vallnord are transformed into adventure parks that are full of ways to have fun. In Grandvalira Canillo, you’ll find Mon(t) Magic with its themed activities and an enticing array of attractions including a 550 yard zip-line. Over in Vallnord Pal-Arinsal, families can enjoy mountain karts, buggy rides, climbing walls, slides and more.

Discover something new

Vallnord Bike Park is the home of the Bike School where anyone over the age of three years old can come and try out mountain biking. The school is open to the general public and is available for individual and group classes. We create specific programmes and plans devised for children which are taught by professionals.

Vallnord Bike Park is tailored to beginners, with a specific practice area for them and blue and green circuits for newbies. For those children who like to get their adrenaline pumping, there is the Mini Wood Park, where they will be able to learn to do jumps and other gravity-defying tricks.  There is also a Pump Track, a modular asphalt circuit where they can practice biking, skating and other activities.

Rest and relaxation

Relaxation isn’t just for the adults. Likids is an exclusive spa located in the Caldea centre where children between the ages of 3 and 8 can experience the decadence of their first spa without their parents around. It has all the essentials for the youngsters to enjoy an introduction to the spa experience: the central lagoon, only 40 cm deep at most, with water currents, puddles, waterbeds and two jets. There is also a jacuzzi, sauna-lounge, beauty space, a sweeping beach with dunes (water bubbles) and a fitness area.

Likids is a space conceived, designed and adapted for kids. Here, younger members of the family will experience an unforgettable day, experimenting with water and participating in the various free activities available to them, under the watchful eyes of an expert team of supervisors. From face masks to manicures, little ones can indulge in a pamper session as part of the Beauty Experience, before relaxing in an introductory yoga class. There are also water-based activities, workshops and a children’s show encouraging them to dip a toe into the world of wellness.

Hiking for all ages

The terrain of Andorra means that there are many hiking trails, however, they are all low-level in difficulty meaning the younger members of your party won’t find it too arduous while taking in the natural beauty of the country. Ruta del Ferro in Ordino (The Iron Route) delivers spectacular landscapes, iron sculptures, iron ore mines and rural cottages, while the Fontverd route is a picturesque trail that was declared a UNESCO Heritage site in 2004.

Sleep under the stars

You can make childhood dreams of sleeping under the stars come true at one of many hostels located at over 1,000 meters above sea level. 30 mountain refuges have been specially adapted to meet every hiker’s need, and each is set in a stunning location, accessible on foot. All of the hostels boast a privileged location offering spectacular views across the valleys of the Principality.

The fully-equipped hostels are open all year round, however only a number are staffed year-round. These include Comapedrosa, Sorteny, Cortals de Sispony, Incles and Juclà. Some of the most outstanding refuges include Fontverd, Cabana Sorda and La Portella, and all offer a multitude of ways in which to enjoy Andorra with children.

Summer fun

From Cirque du Soleil comes REBEL, an unmissable show that pays tribute to iconic men of song. The soundtrack is inspired by love, showcasing the oftentimes mad, frenzied or passionate feeling that has been the driving force behind some of the most beautiful songs of all time.

  • Tickets available every Tuesday – Saturday from the 29th of June until 28th of July 2019.
