Best baby skin range/product: The Little Butterfly London range of products

Little Butterfly London is a luxury Ecocert organic-certified skincare brand for both mothers and their little ones created by Gudrun Wurm who, as a new mother, was inspired to create the range to nurture her newborn son’s delicate skin, giving him the best start in life whilst making their time together as magical as possible. Gudrun had been passionate about skincare ever since she was young and went on to embrace the study of organic cosmetics after her son was born, immersing herself in the world of gentle plant actives and learning about ingredients that can nourish, soothe and protect all at once. The result of her studies is the UK’s first luxury organic-certified skincare range. Created in London from carefully sourced natural and organic-certified ingredients, Little Butterfly London ensures that only the purest, safest and most effective ingredients are used across the range. Whilst she was pregnant, Gudrun believed that whilst women’s bodies were working on creating magic, they also deserved to be cherished. She was passionate about creating products that could be mood-lifting and pleasurable and safe to use during pregnancy and breast-feeding, whilst being highly effective to deliver results.

What most new parents don’t know is that a baby’s skin is up to five times thinner than adult skin, making it more permeable and susceptible to damage. This is why it is so important to think about the products we use on little ones. The ingredients in a range dedicated to young, delicate skin should be as natural as possible, free from any nasties such as mineral oil, paraffin, parabens, SLS and silicones and irritating ingredients as well as synthetic perfume or inappropriate strong essential oils when it comes to the fragrance. The Little Butterfly London range of products for babies and little ones includes the Bubbles in the Breeze Top to Toe Wash, Dewdrops at Dawn Body Lotion, Soft as Moonlight Nappy Change Cream, Wrapped in Love Anti-Pollution Baby Face Cream, Floating on Clouds Bedtime Bath Milk, Falling into Dreams Mother & Baby Massage Oil and the Love Eternal Baby Massage Oil. Many of the products are available in smaller 100m versions, so parents can try out the products before buying the full-sized version and are the smaller size also makes them suitable for air travel.

There are also lots of gift set and bundle options, making the range a popular gift among gift givers. One of the ‘hero’ products is the Soft as Moonlight Nappy Change Cream (£25.50 for 50ml). It contains 18 natural ingredients including calendula, meadowsweet, oat kernel extract and a series of precious oils and butters, all of which combine to create a comforting and healing lotion which can prevent and soothe nappy rash. It also adds moisture to dry and sore patches of skin, which makes it the perfect handbag sized, go-to product. The latest Little Butterfly product in the Little Butterfly London range is the Wrapped in Love Anti-Pollution Baby Face Cream (£27 for 50ml). The perfect answer for an urban family, the cream acts as a barrier protecting delicate baby skin from harsh environmental pollutants, while also soothing and calming even the most sensitive of skins thanks to its unique anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant combination of organic ingredients. Suitable for newborn, eczema-prone, ultra-sensitive and reactive skin, this is the perfect face skin cream for every baby (and even mum too!).

The whole premise of Little Butterfly London was to create a range which never compromises on quality, efficacy or safety for both mother and baby, while considering the planet we live on. This is why we work with the most carefully selected ingredients and blend them to ultra-safe, highly effective formulas. We want to look after the environment which our children will inherit and as such, all our packaging is recyclable, and we only use trusted suppliers with sustainable and responsible production methods and environmental accreditations including the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). We are members of Cruelty Free International, a non-profit organisation that peacefully campaigns against animal experiments. We never test on animals and do not use ingredients that are manufactured by companies that commission animal testing – we believe that beauty products should be cruelty free.
