These wooden beach huts mean you can capture the holiday spirit at any time, from home
Words Holly Kirkwood
We all love a trip to the beach, and the classic British beach hut is an institution all over the country. But of course getting everything packed into the car and going on a daytrip to seaside can involve time, hassle, and that other British summer stalwart: traffic.
Happily, you can literally bring the seaside to your garden this summer – building your own beach hut at home. A fun take on the traditional British huts, as seen along some of our most-loved beaches from Southwold to Bournemouth, these adorable wooden houses provide hours of fun for littles, without anyone even having to get into the car.
Measuring 4ft wide by 4ft deep, with a 2ft deep veranda, the Beach Hut from the Playhouse Company allows your kids to have a safe space to play in outside all year round.
It also encourages them to step away from tablets and devices, and explore the great outdoors, even when they’re just at home, as well as giving them their own space to play in, to be as noisy, or creative as they like – even if it’s raining!
This quirky nautical themed playhouse (above) is finished in “Forget Me Not” blue paint, creating a light and airy sheltered space which is the perfect spot for a picnic or an ice-cream in between swimming or sandcastle-construction (just add your own sandpit and ice creams).
With the summer holidays fast approaching this could be a perfect solution to filling those long summer days – just ask some friends over for playdates, and let the summer fun begin.
The Playhouse Company designs and builds wooden playhouses of all shapes and sizes, from castles to treehouses – and also make bespoke creations for families looking for something specific. The Beach Hut Playhouse is priced at £1,400.
