A changing bag to cart around nappies, wipes, and umpteen outfit changes might not seem like the most exciting purchase. But babies come with so much stuff, it’s something that you’ll definitely use a lot. Once upon a time, changing bags were designed for the baby and definitely not the mum or dad. They had cutesy bunny or ducky designs and came in a putrid array of pastel hues.
Thankfully, things have come a long way since then. There’s an amazing selection of ‘cool’ changing bags on the scene these days and there’s definitely something to suit your style. Practically meets good-looks in our round of the best changing bags below.
Jem + Bea
Jem + Bea was founded by friends Dominique Hughes and Rebecca Da Silva Lima. Rebecca designed for Mulberry, Anya Hindmarch, and Burberry before launching the brand, which explains Jem + Bea’s minimal but luxurious aesthetic.
Their best-selling ‘Jemima’ design looks like covet-worthy handbag on the outside, with buttery soft leather and satisfyingly chunky hardware. But open it up and you’ll find all the pockets and compartments you need for storing your baby and mama essentials. And we love the extra large (and extra roomy) ‘Puffy’ changing bag (shown above).
Jem + Bea also has a great range of practical and unisex changing backpacks with thermo insulated pockets for keeping baby’s bottle warm. And a brilliant range of bags made using eco-friendly and vegan fabrics too.

Storksak
Another mum-run brand, Melanie Marshall and Suzi Bergman met on the school run. The pair brainstormed several business ideas before settling on changing bags. A little known fact is that one of their original ideas was a baby sling – hence the name ‘Storksak’.
The brand’s designs aim to bring together functionality and style, and their range covers everything from backpacks, to stroller accessories and hospital bags.
One of our favourites from the new collection is the Kaia Leather Bag (top and above), which looks as far from a nappy bag as you can imagine. The textured shoulder bag has concealed shoulder straps, and plenty of space inside for wipes, nappies, and a change of baby clothes.

Tiba + Marl
Anna Tizard and Lydia Barron, the mama founders behind Tiba + Marl, set out to push the boundaries of changing bag design. Fashion meets function in their stylish collection, which uses high-tech and eco-friendly materials.
Both Anna and Lydia come from a design/retail background, and like to keep an eye on streetwear trends. All of their changing bags have high fashion details – from the chunky leather zips on their bestselling Elwood backpack to the woven cross body strap on the Nova shoulder bag (above).

Finnsøn
Finnsøn was founded by two mamas and former fashion industry colleagues – Kate and Amy. The brand takes inspiration from Scandinavian design, with minimal, unisex styling and eco materials.
Designs include everything from sleek quilted pouches to practical backpacks. We love the Tobias teddy changing bag – a giant oversized tote that you’ll definitely want to use on days without baby (above).

Avery Row
Avery Row’s Baby Changing Bag is made from organic cotton and comes in three gender-neutral colours. Open it up and you’ll find that each colour way is lined with a different signature Avery Row print. A beautiful detail that we’ve come to expect from the stylish baby essentials brand.
Made from durable canvas, it has multiple pockets and plenty of storage for your everyday mama and baby essentials. It also has a detachable shoulder strap.

Willa & the Bear
A colourful antidote to some of the more minimal styles, Willa & the Bear’s Rainbow Set works just as well as a summery tote or a changing bag.
The roomy shoulder bag comes with a separate ‘wash bag’ with waterproof lining, that’s perfect for storing your mama essentials.
What we love most about it though is that each bag has been stitched by hand by artisan makers in Jaipur. The brand works with small, female-led studios that adhere to strict ethical and environmental policies.
Nobodinoz
Super lightweight and super cute, this stroller organiser from Nobodinoz attaches easily to the buggy. Pockets for a baby bottle (or water bottle), make it perfect for keeping your hands free.

Liewood
It comes as no surprise that the Scandinavian makers of beautiful childrenswear, toys, and accessories have a stylish changing bag in their range. The Menza Nursery Bag comes in dad-friendly ‘Midnight Navy’ or the softer ‘Tuscany Rose’ hue.
As practical as it is stylish, it can be used as a hand-held bag, shoulder style, or attached to the pram. The Menza is made from recycled nylon, and is plenty spacious enough for everything you need with a baby in tow.

Joolz
With minimal styling, the Joolz changing bag is a great option for both mums and dads. It attaches to the buggy easily with buggy clips and has plenty of storage space for nappies, wipes, and outfit changes. It comes in range of stylish colours and is also a great price point.

Kerikit
Kerikit was founded by ex highstreet handbag designer Keri Jamieson. When she couldn’t find a bag she wanted to carry during her pregnancies, she used her design expertise to create a collection of versatile bags that could be used during the baby days and beyond.
The brand’s leather bags walk the line between fashion and function, and look just as good hanging on your stroller as they do on on your arm on the way to the office.
