Postnatal retreats for mums, dads and babies

Words Jessica Shaltout

Nappy-change, feed, nap, bottle-clean, washing, do it all again… and breathe. And that’s how this postnatal retreat was born! Created by Clio Wood, this is a retreat like no other.

Slightly sceptical, I drove to Four Seasons Hampshire, baby and bags in tow. The Georgian manor house looks like something from Pride & Prejudice, and from the moment we arrived the service was excellent. Our room had a cot, teddy, baby bath soap and nappies. And at lunch, everything was perfectly prepared, with high chairs, baby food and Clio and Caroline on hand to help out.

On day one, we spent three hours in the studio covering the pelvic floor, Pilates and a high-intensity workout. Although a little out of practise, getting the chance to do some exercise felt great.

However, the best part for me came in the evening, where nannies arrived at our rooms ready to take over with the babies while we enjoyed a baby-free dinner. Getting adult time with a newborn is so rare and this really did feel like a treat.

Day two was equally luxurious, including a delicious breakfast and more nanny time, while we relaxed at the spa and enjoyed a back massage. As I left, I definitely felt like I’d had the chance to… breathe.

Prices for &Breathe post-natal retreat start from £495. The next retreat will take place on 17 September.
