Celia Muñoz, founder of childrenswear brand La Coqueta and Nell Diamond founder of American lifestyle brand Hill House Home had been fans of each other’s brands for years. Both brands are known for their heritage prints, dreamy dresses, and romantic aesthetic so a collaboration seemed like a natural fit. Muñoz says: “With both of us being mothers and having shopped one another’s collections since the very beginning, the collaboration felt very intuitive.” The result is a 14-piece La Coqueta X Hill House Home collection of mama and mini pieces, with outfits for mamas, girls boys, and babies. We caught up with Muñoz to find out more.

Absolutely Mama meets Celia Munoz, mama-of-five and founder of childrenswear brand La Coqueta, to find out more about the La Coqueta X Hill House Home collaboration…

Hi Celia, thank you so much for talking to us. We’re so excited about your collaboration with Hill House Home! Talk about dream team of brands. How did the capsule come about?

Thank you! I have been a fan of Hill House Home and Nell’s beautiful designs for so long – it is a wonderful brand, and Nell is a fantastic visionary. We wanted to create a collection that celebrates the joy of motherhood and the magic of childhood through beautiful, whimsical designs.

What was the design process like and how did you go about blending the La Coqueta and Hill House Home aesthetics?

It has been such a pleasure working with Nell and her team on the collaboration. From the very beginning, it was important to us to really combine our respective aesthetics to create a truly beautiful capsule for mama and mini. From the collection’s colour palette, exclusive prints and signature silhouettes to the smallest of details: pintuck pleats, lace details, pretty peter pan collars and delicate hand-smocking – the collection really blends the very best of La Coqueta and Hill House Home. I am so proud of the collection.

Tell us about the prints. How did you go about choosing them and what makes them special?

Collectively, the collection features four of our favourite prints; Hill House’s best-selling trellis print re-coloured in the prettiest lilac shade and their graphic blue hydrangea print as well as two of our much-loved prints in exclusive colours for Hill House.

Do you have a favourite piece from the collection?

It’s so hard to pick – I truly love them all! Our Green Bird Floral print is very special and features the most beautiful hand-designed print, an abundance of flora and fauna in the perfect spring-time green, inspired by vintage wallpapers and designed exclusively for us.

I love the Matilda dress in this print – it is the quintessential Spring/Summer dress that you can dress up or down depending on the occasion; from the playground to lunch, drinks and dancing with a swoosh of red lipstick.

We designed matching styles for the little ones, incorporating our signature silhouettes; Hill House’s iconic silhouette – the tiny Ellie Nap dress – and our best-selling Arcadia and Rita drop waist dresses for the girls. We couldn’t leave out the boys and I love the Antonio set in a complementing pistachio green for those picture- perfect sibling moments.

I am so looking forward to seeing how everyone styles the collection, particularly Nell’s little ones and my teenage daughters. It really is a collection for the whole family.

We love mama and mini matching, and it’s always easier to find pieces for girls. Being a mama of both boys and girls, was it important to you to include options for both?

We love to celebrate the magic of childhood and family memories at La Coqueta – it is the most special time and is so fleeting that it was very important for us to create a collection that celebrates this.

As the collection will be launching just in time for Mother’s Day, do you have any special plans this year?

I am very fortunate to be part of a very close family – I will be spending Mother’s Day with my children, husband and parents in Granada where I grew up. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect day!

And finally, what’s your favourite thing about motherhood?

I love watching them grow as independent separate beings and witnessing each of my children’s personalities evolve. I learn from them every day – this is possibly what I enjoy the most.
