Treat your little ones to a theatre trip for less with Kids Week

The school holidays have barely started but if you’re already running out of ideas on how to keep your children entertained then we might have just the solution.

Kids Week, the annual London theatre initiative run by the Society of London Theatre, has just begun, with more than 35 shows offering free tickets for children. Little ones will love the likes of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Julia Donaldson’s What the Ladybird Saw, while older children will enjoy classics such as the Wind in the Willows, the Borrowers and Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox. Big West End hits including the Lion King, Jungle Book and Wicked are also taking part.

So far this year almost 160,000 tickets already issued with 60,000 tickets remaining for performances throughout August. One child aged 16 or under can go free to a wide range of participating shows when accompanied by an adult paying full price. In addition two extra children can go for half price, and there are no booking, postage or transaction fees.

There are also has a fantastic range of free activities and events which includes everything from storytelling and backstage tours to choreography and stage combat workshops.

Kids Week, one of the world’s longest running audience development initiatives, encourages young people to experience live theatre. This wonderful celebration of children’s theatre began in 1998 as just a week, hence the name, but has grown to include the entire month of August. Over the years has reached over 1.2 million children and families.

Additionally, Kids Week ticket holders will be able to take advantage of a number of Kids Go Free deals on dining, tours and hotels.

So if you fancy a trip to the theatre with your little ones then Kids Week makes this the ideal time to go – but be quick, shows do sell out fast.
